Use the thinning option to remove unwanted instances from the list of hits, for example before saving or printing the set. You can choose to remove instance you have selected or ones you have not selected. There is also an option to retain one instance from each text or to retain a random sample of the size you specify.
  1. Decide whether to mark wanted or unwanted instances. Mark them by double-clicking on them (hold down the SHIFT key and click on the first and last line in a range to select them and all lines between them).
  2. Choose Query on the toolbar, Thin from the list that pops up and then select the relevant option (alternatively, use the Thin icon that looks like a road sign):
    • Selection: retain selected instances
    • Reverse selection: discard selected instances
    • Random: retain a random set of instance (you specify the number)
    • One per text: retain one instance from each text.
  3. The remaining hits will be automatically displayed after the thinning.
