What texts are included in the BNC?
How were the texts for the BNC selected?
The BNC texts were selected according to certain selection criteria established in the beginning of the BNC project. You can find these described in the section on Creating the BNC
How can I find out how many words there are in a particular part of the BNC?
The corpus manuals/user guides list all the texts and the number of words they contain (see Creating the BNC). If you use one of the online interfaces to the BNC, there will be various ways to make calculations of word counts, but please consult the online help of the service that you are using.
